WHAT IS CUPPING THERAPY OR MYOFASCIAL DECOMPRESSION AND HOW DO THE TWO DIFFER
HOW LONG WILL THE MARKS LAST AFTER A CUPPING THERAPY TREATMENT?
Cupping therapy marks typically last for about 7-10 days. However, the duration may vary depending on the individual's skin type, hydration and level of activity.
Cupping Therapy is a treatment method using negative pressure on soft tissue. Traditionally used in Chinese medicine, Cupping Therapy has been known in this culture to reduce pain and draw toxins from the body. However, research shows this is not scientifically the effect Cupping Therapy has on the body. In Chinese medicine, cup placement can be correlated with meridian lines, similarly to acupuncture and can be placed in specific locations to affect other areas of the body. With Myofascial Decompression, using negative pressure helps to separate the many layers of soft tissue in that area. Creating space between the layers of tissues alters the viscosity of the ground substance and enables the tissues to slide and glide much easier. Myofascial Decompression is very effective and can be measured before and after to show quantified results. Currently Grace and Michelle are qualified to treat using cupping therapy. Grace, however, is the only Therapist certified in Myofascial Decompression between Detroit and Toronto.
